Quintessentially Canadian Songs - Livestream

‘What is a “Quintessentially Canadian” Song?... Bruce Coughlan, Songsmith and Storyteller explains:

“...it’s a true ballad, a song that tells a story; a rootsy and genuine story with a lilting melody, combined with words that leave a feeling of warmth and sincerity. A song which perhaps reflects glimpses of our history or, at times, paints a small picture of our colourful and amazingly diverse culture.

With that in mind, I’ve chosen Stan Rogers’ “Northwest Passage” as a point of departure, and assembled a set of songs which, for me, reflects all the above values. You’ll hear tunes by Gordon Lightfoot and Ian Tyson, along with a few surprises. I’ll even share some of my own songs! Songs where they, in my opinion, fit the description above. Please join me as I sing the praises of our beautiful country in song!”’
