Ivan Boudreau - SongStage host
Ivan has been professional musician/songwriter and wandering minstrel for over 45 years, with deep roots in Nova Scotia and his youthful years in Boston and Toronto. He now calls British Columbia home and continues with his driving passion for stories and songs that are honest and heartfelt
Jeff Plankenhorn
Jeff Plankenhorn, singer-songwriter and all things strings multi-instrumentalist—guitar, lap steel, mandolin, piano, upright bass—began his career as a boy soprano in Ohio. After studying music theory and composition at University of Michigan, Texas beckoned when Ray Wylie Hubbard enticed Jeff to join his band. Slide guitar virtuoso, Jeff spent his early career backing the likes of Hubbard and Joe Ely. His patented lap slide guitar, “the Plank,” with a distinctive sound derived from the instrument's square neck and electric guitar body—netted him Austin Music Awards 2017 “Best Miscellaneous Instrument”.
Meg Tennant
Originally from Northern Ontario, Canadian folk-roots songwriter Meg Tennant has moved back and forth a few times between Ontario and BC, and currently calls Vancouver home. She has performed at festivals and showcases in both provinces, and has opened shows for the likes of Eliza Gilkyson and Tom Russell at Vancouver's Rogue Folk Club.
Robert Atyeo
"All the money in the world can't buy you a nickel of time" and "The Floor is Closer Than You Think" are only two of the many lessons of life Robert Atyeo sings about.
Often compared to J. J. Cale, John Prine and Tom Waits, Atyeo is a songwriter’s songwriter. His songs take the listener all over the emotional map with a delivery that is boisterously entertaining and wry observations often verging on the black. Growing audiences enthusiastically applaud his performances, relating to his words, his humour, his sensitivity and warmth.
Gary Comeau
Gary Comeau is a singer-songwriter and musician of unusual diversity and talent.
Playing a range of instruments including guitar, mandolin, fiddle, accordion and piano, he delivers originally crafted, high energy, New Orleans-style rockin' roots and blues.
Although Gary’s own roots are French-Acadian, ...he was born and raised in Nova Scotia..., his soul seems to have taken a long and inspiring detour through Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta.
And while Gary does not consider himself to be a Cajun or Zydeco artist per se, those styles have certainly influenced the music he's written & recorded.
