Mission, BC…The Mission Overdose Community Action Team (MOCAT) in collaboration with the Langley Overdose Response Community Action Team (LORCAT) brings Precarious: A Transformative Musical Tale to the Bez Arts Hub, Saturday, October 5, 2024.
Precarious, nominated for a 2024 Fraser Valley Cultural Diversity award, is a community collage play produced by MOCAT. With warmth, authenticity, and a touch of humour, the play tells stories of the toxic unregulated drug crisis.
“Through scenes and songs, the play interweaves some of the history of prohibition, the unfolding human tragedy of the Fentanyl crisis, while celebrating the heroism of peers and families on the front lines.” said MOCAT coordinator Kat Wahamaa and Precarious artistic director. “And on some songs the audience can sing along.”
"Bringing Precarious to Langley theatre goers offers a unique and powerful way to engage with a conversation we all need to be having." added Daniel Snyder coordinator of LORCAT. “It’s an engaging play, acknowledging the bravery of those who live these stories every day. We are amazed at their courage, resilience and humour as they light the way to greater understanding."
“The “Precarious Players,” came together over many months to make this play, we made space for healing in our process to address the toxic drug crisis.” notes Peggy Kroeker Meier, peer worker and cast member. “We believe these stories resonate with people and provide a focus and facts that rarely seem to make it into the mainstream.”
